India shining, Bihar flowing, Orissa burning. What a cocktail!
AAAAAhhhh....feels good to be back...long time since I have written. Plain laziness combined with a new job and some work...Meanwhile India has not waited for me. We have had a spate of happenings which followed each other in quick succession and we have not breathed since the first.
No, I am not getting into the pain of chronologically arranging them. Too much work.
The untrustworthy trust vote. God knows who trusted who and who ended up being trusted in the end. However, we indians are sure that we are not trusting any politicians any more. Though we forget it every election. Anyway.
India has progressed a lot in other areas as well. First we had ominous weather officials telling us that we are going to face a drought situation. We waited anxiously for the drought, sorry, rain clouds. Mumbai had a deliciously late monsoon which,by the way,is still continuing. But the star of the show, however, is our very own Bihar. The Kosi did a rain dance that kind of entertained Bihar, at the cost of a whole lot of villages along the Indo-Nepal border. Well, entertainment does not come cheap, does it? Head to the nearest multiplex to find that out. To come back to our rain dance, there is a different kind of dance going on in relation to it. The Blame dance. After all, how are we supposed to predict floods in a river which floods practically every monsoon? We were just optimistic, and thought that there would be, well, no floods this time. We were going to face a drought remember?
Then comes the final highlight. Kandhamal. India shining, Orissa burning. Hindus raze missionary orphanages along with the caretakers inside. Reason? The Christians are "threatening" the Dalit population by converting them to christianity in return for a life. We are all waiting for a retaliation. I wonder what happened to our tolerance. And anyway, how does another religion become a "threat" to one religion? I guess there is some deep end logic which I obviously do not understand.
Phew...next time will not be lazy. Will catch up with India before it runs so far (in the wrong direction). Adios.
